The Future of Robotics: How Rotary Encoders Will Serve Mobile Robotics

4/1/2020

Published in the April issue of Circuit Cellar magazine, Jeff Smoot, CUI Devices’ VP of Engineering discusses the important role encoders can play in the rise of mobile robotics and the additional energy savings that capacitive encoder technology can offer to further improve overall system efficiency.

The article begins, “Autonomous robots and drones first got their start for large corporations and government agencies in areas such as manufacturing and the military. However, commercial mobile robotics have exploded in recent years, as costs have lowered and made them more accessible to a range of markets and services. Recent research suggests that the market for aerial drones alone is expected to soar to more than $18 billion by 2022.”
